The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable

I'm still musing on the excellent fable/case study from this 2002 book.

Author Patrick Lencioni noted the interrelationship between the dysfunctions, with even one of them present having the potential to threaten the organization. To me, Fear of Conflict is the most challenging dysfunction because frankly, what is and isn't appropriate conflict is a subjective call that may differ across organization types (civilian and military for example). On the positive side, Lencioni articulated a set of fundamentals to address the five dysfunctions, noting that while simple, their ongoing application in the organization is challenging and, as the fable illustrates, has the potential to disrupt the organization, at least in the short term.
